Covid 19 has adversely affected the education system in India as the whole country is in lockdown and schools, colleges remain shut throughout the country. It is a challenging situation for schools and colleges to complete their pending syllabus and to conduct exams as well. State governments are adopting various measures to impart free flow of education to students.

In this regard, CM of Andhra Pradesh Mr. Ys JAGAN Mohan Reddy considers e-learning as the emerging basic feature of education system post lockdown.
The state has adopted an e-learning approach for facilitating education. The state is imparting education through WhatsApp groups and conducting virtual classes through videoconferencing.

At the school level, the state is broadcasting learning programs daily through Doordarshan and radio. Similarly, at the college level, 5979 classes are organized regularly including various streams such as BA, MA, MBA, MTECH, MCA, etc.

“Universities are also providing counseling sessions with the support of their respective psychology departments to cater to the needs of the students and society at large during these times to beat fatigue, despair, and monotony,” says officials of the Education department.

In accordance with the new curriculum of the state, webinars are organized on a regular basis to provide guidance to teachers for online classes.
Andhra Pradesh state government has also launched a state leaning app named “Abhyasa” which is loaded with tenth class subject videos pooled from the Diksha app. According to officials, 24000 students and 933 teachers are active participants in the online classes.

“Those who have no reach to the online facility, lectures on various subjects are uploaded on YouTube and the links are being shared to enable the students to get the benefit. Lecture notes are also being shred through WhatsApp and e-mail” says a state government’s officer.
