Drone Deliveries from Swiggy can soon be a reality

20 Indian companies including Swiggy and Dunzo have been given permission by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to carry out Drone flight experiments in India. The conditional experiment permission is valid for the next one year. 

“The preliminary permission grant is envisioned to assist the supplementary framework development of subsequent UAV rules pertaining to Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone operations… BVLOS trials will help create a framework for future drone deliveries and other major applications using drones,Ministry of Civil Aviation said in a statement..

Such grants intend to achieve the dual objective of faster vaccine delivery and improved healthcare access by limiting human exposure, ensuring access to healthcare to the last mile and improving the medical supply chain, the ministry had added.
